Design, Function and Operation
The HUBER Pump Station Screen ROTAMAT® RoK4, available through Hydroflux Epco, offers an efficient and reliable solution for both new installations and refurbishment projects. Unlike traditional screening systems that require manual cleaning, the RoK4 operates automatically, ensuring consistent, hands-free performance. The system vertically lifts, dewaters, and compacts screenings in a single process. The compacted screenings are then discharged into a container or endless bagging system, reducing odours and preventing pump failures caused by clogging.
The RoK4 is designed with a vertical perforated screen basket and a shafted auger enclosed within a vertical tube. Wastewater enters the system through an inlet connection and flows into a chamber that directs it toward the screen basket. Inside the basket, the screw flights are fitted with wear-resistant brushes, ensuring effective, continuous cleaning of the screen surface. As solids are lifted by the auger, they are simultaneously dewatered and compacted before being discharged for convenient and hygienic disposal.
The screened wastewater is discharged by gravity or, if required, pumped to a higher level. The system also features a hose that returns the filtrate to the inlet chamber, maintaining efficient water flow.
To enhance operational resilience, the RoK4 includes an open-top inflow chamber, which acts as an emergency bypass in the event of high inflow or power failure. Additionally, the integrated bottom step prevents backflow into the sewer, reducing the risk of sediment accumulation and ensuring smooth, uninterrupted operation.
