Metal Removal Wastewater Treatment Plant Awarded to Hydroflux

March 25, 2025

One of the world’s largest metal coating and painting manufacturers has engaged Hydroflux to design, fabricate, supervise the installation, and commission a Metal Removal Wastewater Treatment Plant. This facility is designed to treat 10 kL/h of wastewater, effectively removing metal contaminants to ensure safe discharge into the sewer network.

The treatment process incorporates key elements such as equalisation, chemical treatment, HySEP® clarification, and advanced controls/automation. HySEP® technology was selected for this project due to its compact design and efficient performance. Its inclined lamella plate packs, arranged in a crossflow profile, is engineered to handle metal-laden wastewater streams. Additionally, the unit and its components are fabricated entirely from 316 stainless steel, offering superior resistance to corrosion and exceptional durability.

Like all Hydroflux water and wastewater treatment equipment, the HySEP® lamella clarifier is Carbon Neutral certified. This means that integrating this unit into your processing plant will not contribute to your carbon footprint.

Hydroflux has a comprehensive range of HySEP range of clarifiers with removable stainless steel plate packs up to 200 m2 in a single unit
Advantages of Lamella Clarifiers

Lamella clarifiers, also known as inclined plate settlers, provide several advantages over traditional clarifiers, particularly in wastewater treatment applications:

  • Compact Design: The smaller footprint of lamella clarifiers makes them ideal for facilities with limited space. The inclined plates significantly increase the effective settling area, enabling efficient sedimentation within a smaller system.
  • Shorter Settling Distance: Sloped plates reduce the settling distance for particles, resulting in faster sedimentation and improved treatment efficiency.
  • Lower Capital Costs: The compact design reduces material requirements and overall construction costs.
  • Reduced Maintenance: With fewer moving parts than conventional clarifiers, lamella systems require less maintenance, reducing operational costs.
  • High-Solids Handling: The design is well-suited for high-solids influent, maintaining effectiveness where conventional clarifiers may struggle.
  • Modular and Scalable: Lamella clarifiers are modular, making them easier to expand or integrate into existing systems.
  • Ease of Installation: Prefabricated units are simpler to transport and install compared to building conventional clarifiers on-site.

The innovative HySEP® technology, combined with the numerous benefits of lamella clarifiers, makes this treatment plant an efficient and cost-effective solution for metal wastewater management.
